Bob Hardy (born Robert Byron Hardy, 16 August 1980, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England) is the bassist for the Glasgow based band, Franz Ferdinand. Hardy grew up in Bradford, and attended Bradford Grammar School and gained a place in Bradford College's BTec foundation course of art and design in 1998 after representing his synaesthesia (through which he can see smells) in paint on canvas. He earned a place in the Glasgow School of Art in order to study painting. He completed his first year in 2000. Keen to sample all that Glasgow had to offer he visited the 13th Note where he met Alex Kapranos, now the frontman of Franz Ferdinand. There, he told a few vulgar "dead baby" jokes. Kapranos, insulted by the jokes, ended up talking to Hardy and learning that he needed a job and money. Kapranos then got Hardy a job with himself as a dessert chef. Hardy enjoys receiving pretzels while on tour from fans. It is unconfirmed about whether or not he actually eats them, but he often encourages fans attending Franz Ferdinand shows to bring him pretzels. This encouragement can often be seen on the band's Kyte media player, a device Hardy frequently updates with videos of performances - particularly after the release of the band's third album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand. Hardy plays 1974 and 1978 Rickenbacker 4001s / Hagström / Fender Precision. He used to use an SWR Goliath bass cabinet but now uses an Ampeg SVT Pro head and Ampeg 8x10 cabs, and uses Ernie Ball strings - roundwounds, medium gauge. His plectrum is a custom .60 mm nylon/teflon amalgam. Hardy is a prolific gamer and was a bass technique consultant with Harmonix Music Systems for the development of the game Rock Band

Someones been frigging with Bob Wiki again lol
Hardy grew up in Wyke, Bradford, where his father was a local baker famous for his pain au chocolat and experimental brioche. He attended Bradford Grammar School and gained a place in Bradford College's BTec foundation course of art and design in 1998 after representing his synaesthesia (through which he can hear smells) in paint on canvas. So horrific were these baby jokes, that Kapranos was astonished by the filth this man could spew. Kapranos, insulted by the jokes, ended up talking to Hardy and learning that he needed a job and money. Kapranos then got Hardy a job with himself as a dessert chef. x

Found this on the old FFG site. I'd forgotton how awfull that place could be Skizzenbuch unterwegs Franz Ferdinand / Bob Hardy Lots of parties Every time I think of home the house where I lived between the age of 11 and 18, before I moved to Glasgow, comes to my mind. The house is located in a suburb of Bradford, a post-industrial city in the north of England. Compared to Glasgow Bradford is very small, calm and pacific, but living there was great: I had plenty of time to read, draw and listen to music. From time to time I miss that nowadays. At first my parents and my older sister lived in that house as well. But when I was 15 my sister moved out. My parents were barely there because they owned another house in Scotland where they used to spend most of their time. Therefore I was responsible for the house in Bradford and I really enjoyed it. I was the boss. And of course I had lots of parties. I don’t live there anymore. My parents sold the house and are living in Scotland now." You can find out more about the book here: www.rockbuch.de/frameset.htm?buecher/skizzen.htmThere's an english video you can watch and download with a short Bob interview in it profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fus....endID=142621660

Oh god yeah, I'd honestly forgotten how infuriating one fan in particular was. In a 8 page thread about meeting Bob, about three pages where kindly devoted to Bob and the rest went off on a tangent about 'Santa Bob' *sighs* I'm sure she's wanked herself to death over pictures of David Tennant by now though ;^) I was just curious, send me a private message if this is going to cause trouble but who was the girl who turned up with presents for all of them except Bob and made it really uncomfortable? And Ashley, who Nick used to hide from? lol x
